Soboye African style Editorial

I got very exited when my friend Samson Soboye rang, and asked me if I was interested in shooting his collection in an editorial kind of style. He introduces many unknown to the Western-World patterns and colour combinations in his creations. I always wanted to capture the magic of it all, and it all makes sense when you read the write-up below.

The urban jungle is an oxymoron that we know all to well. Our curiosities have often filled us with notions of what this ideal may be. Some people may venture overseas to indulge in this tropical lifestyle. But the others, the wise few, will simply go to SOBOYE.

With both the freedom and the rebellion of decades past, and the unapologetic brashness of urban culture, the East London based brand brings a Flare of modern Africa to contemporary England. The bold colours dress both men and woman to an effortless cool. As a man with a sharp eye for the intricate details, Samson Soboye’s unique collection, in a collaboration with woman-wear designer Caroline Chi  Chi Chinakwe, is refreshingly resistant to any common style classification.

Who says that the loud and wonderful are reserved only to for the summer? Colour and structure are the foundation of fashion, bringing impeccably timeless pieces from all over the globe. If your wardrobe is suffering from a mid-season crisis, the pieces from Soboye will bring back that year-round thrill.

As dazzling prints are paired with the elegant pieces in traditionally tailored British cuts, this Afro-punk line combines the edginess of urban life with the vibrancy of the continent. With this collection, Soboye takes our understanding of ‘the concrete jungle’ to a whole new level, and we love it.
